Description:Europe’s greatest players gathered at the Stoke City football ground to play a farewell game for the greatest player of them all – Sir Stanley Matthews. This is the last appearance of Sir Stanley at the club ground where he first played 33 years ago. He’s still able to delight the crowd with a show of the old magic. In goal for the internationals is Yashin, the Russian goalkeeper. The English team included such fine players as Greaves and Haines. For the record, the international team won 6-4, but the result was secondary to the unprecedented tribute to the man whose name is known wherever football is played. Sir Stanley Matthews was carried shoulder high off the field.
