Date:11th of October 1906

Description:The Woodlands, Felthouse Lane, Cheddleton. It is a Grade II listed early 19th century farmhouse with minor 20th century additions and white painted brickwork. The porch is a late 19th century addition.

By 1862 it was the home of the Rev. John Sneyd (1798-1873), Vicar of Ipstones, formerly of Ashcombe Park and Basford Hall. It was sold in 1867. The house was frequently let but seems to have returned to Sneyd occupation in the early 20th century.

On the death of Major-General T. Sneyd, his widow, Charlotte Marion Sneyd made The Woodlands her home until her death in 1939. It was sold in 1940 and included 7.25 acres of grounds. By 1942 it was the home of John Henry Aberley, farmer and Rural Councillor. He was still occupant in 1952 and may have farmed at Felthouse Farm.
