Description:A Pickfords low loader transporting a locomotive at Truman, Hanbury, Buxton & Co.’s Black Eagle Brewery which was situated just off Station Bridge, bordering Derby Street.

This Peckett & Sons 0-4-0ST locomotive no.2112 was built in 1949 for Truman, Hanbury, Buxton & Co. It is seen here being transported to J.C. Staton's gypsum works at Tutbury who had bought it in March 1958. When Staton's were taken over by British Gypsum it was moved to their Hawton Works at Newark, Nottinghamshire in April 1969. The locomotive was scrapped in 1970.

A brewery was established here by Phillips Bros. of Northampton between 1860 and 1865. It was bought by Truman, Hanbury, Buxton & Co. Ltd in 1873 and rebuilt. The brewery closed in 1971 and was demolished in 1972-1973. The site has been redeveloped for housing and commercial uses.
