Description:A view looking down Market Street towards the junction with Rugeley Road and Uxbridge Street then on up Church Hill. On the left is the Co-operative Society store, then E. Webb's watchmaker shop and G. Smith's drapers shop. Further on a canopy with a 'Pianos' sign can be seen which belonged to W.S.Jones who also sold cycles around this time.

On the right is the Post Office, then the shop of J. Ball, tailor. There is then a space where shops would later be built before the Uxbridge Arms on the corner. A barber's pole can just be seen angled in front of the block of three lock-up shops that still stand today (2024). It is thought that these shops, numbers 3,5 and 7, were built in 1901 as they were auctioned in 1914 with a leasehold of 99 years dating from September 1901.
