Description:This view of a Braid exhibition in one of the galleries at Stafford’s Art Gallery was taken by Stafford photographer Tony Boydon.

Stafford Museum's origins lie with the Wragge Museum opened in the Borough Hall in 1879, consisting of ethnographic, zoological, and geological specimens given to Stafford Corporation by Clement Lindley Wragge of Oakamoor. In 1914 Stafford Museum was moved to the new Library at the Green and in 1934 an Art Gallery was opened. In 1962 a new extension to the Art Gallery was opened (pictured here). In 1984 it became Stafford Art Gallery and the local history collections were transferred to Staffordshire County Museum. The Art Gallery relocated to the Shire Hall Gallery in 1992.
