Description:A postcard view of The Lodge, Oakamoor.

The Lodge was built for George Kendall in 1761. He had an iron rolling mill and a tin-plating works nearby in Oakamoor. It was sold to George Smith of Smith & Knifton, who purchased the Lodge and the works in 1780.

It was occupied by George Wragge and the Wragge family during the 19th century. He was one of the partners and shareholders of the Cheadle Brass Company in 1839. It was also the childhood home of George's nephew Clement Lindley Wragge (1852-1922), meteorologist, explorer and founder of the Wragge Museum in Stafford.

In 1852 the works were purchased by Thomas Bolton & Sons and the Lodge was sold to Bolton’s around 1875. Later, it was the home of Dr Peter Bearblock, the official Works Doctor. He married Beatrice, the daughter of A.S. Bolton, in 1901 and moved into the Lodge in the following year until their deaths 1948 and 1951. The Lodge was demolished shortly after his death in 1951.

This postcard was franked on 16 August 1910 in Stoke-on-Trent and sent to an address in Kettering.
