Description:Officials and crowds at the opening ceremony for Cheddleton Playing Fields. The fields were opened by General, The Earl of Cavan, Vice-Chairman of The National Playing Fields Association on 27 June 1931. The scheme cost £4,000. The 11 acre field encompassed 4 tennis courts, a bowling green and a number of cricket and football pitches. In addition to a fair and side-shows and many other activities, 100 village schoolchildren gave a display of Morris dancing.
