Description:The sign above the door reads 'J.E. Burrows Leather Grindery Boot and Shoe Repairs'. The shop window advertises Phillips' soles and heels.

Burrows Shoe Repairs started around the 1930s, with Edward Burrows at 26 and 34 Back Walls South, his son, John Edward Burrows in Salter Street and Edward's brother Frank at 34, Browning Street. Many of the family had been working in the shoe industry in the early 1900s.

Later, Geoff Burrows ran the shop in Salter Street between 1976 and 1994 when it returned to being a house named Cobbler's Cottage. Richard Burrows Shoe Repairs were on Railway Street between 1981 and 1986 and then at the Paul Reynolds complex on Foregate Street until it closed in 2001.
