Date:July 1950

Description:This view taken at sunset looks north-west along Lichfield Road towards the junction with Bridge Street and Newport Road, Stafford.

On the left is the Borough Library, in the centre the Grapes public house and the cream coloured building on the right is the Sun Inn. In the 1970s the road layout was changed with the building of Queensway, the inner ring road, and the area on the left was remodelled. Most of these buildings remain (December 2024) although the Library later moved to the Shire Hall and then to Staffordshire Place.
