Description:Studio portrait of David Benjamin Perry smoking a pipe. Born 1927 in Dovercourt. Essex, David Perry worked for the English Electric Co. Ltd. from 1950. He was later was Works Director at Hampton Industries, West Bromwich where he designed and developed the mobile starting equipment for VC10 aircraft. In 1966 he set up Benjamin Perry (Engineers) Ltd. in Tamworth making lighting equipment and generating sets for construction sites, Staffordshire County Fire Brigade and British Rail. In 1970 the successful company's share capital was acquired by the Whittaker Ellis Bullock group for whom David continued to manage the business. He married Enid Cooke in 1953 .
