Description:Newport Road viewed from the Odeon Cinema corner. On the extreme left is the 'Juliet Lounge' (upstairs with balcony and canopy) and the 'Pop Inn' (downstairs), both of these cafes were owned by the Sandy family. Later they became Greatrex Travel and Motor Coaches offices. Others shops and offices include: the Refuge Assurance Co. Ltd. H. Bishop & Son greengrocers, Jaspers bread and custom made cakes and the Midland Red Travel enquiries and bookings office. All of these buildings remain (2025) with the exception of the pair of bay-windowed houses in the centre with the advertisement on the gable end which were later replaced with a modern block of shops and offices. On the extreme right are the gates and wall of the Grapes public house which still stands on the corner of Bridge Street.
