Description:Stoney Dale is a valley and road south west of Oakamoor. This view is looking towards the Churnet valley with Lightoaks Wood to the left.

This area was called 'Steeny Dale' up to the end of the 19th century, as 'steeny' was an old English word for 'stoney' .(Information kindly provided by John Williams).
