Description:The vase was presented to Holditch Colliery Rescue Brigade following the Holditch pit fire and explosion which killed 30 miners including an entire rescue team in July 1937. The vase is one of two made; the vase (pictured) was a gift from the President of France along with a special medal by the Congres International de Sauvetage for courage and devotion. The other vase was awarded to a French colliery rescue team.
