Description:Men and boys with their pony and the 'Boss' in the bowler hat standing in front of the wooden winding frame at Number 7 Pit, Himley Wood. Also seen in the background is the winding 'gin', probably horse-drawn, and coal tubs on a railway track.

Located south of the charmingly named Daffydingle Pool between Himley and Gornal, the pit, one of many in the locality, was owned by the Earl of Dudley by 1905 but is thought to predate this. An 1887 newspaper article mentions the Countess of Dudley and a group of friends doing a tour of the limestone caverns, Himley Number 5 and 7 pits, Round Oak Steel Works and the New Level Blast Furnaces.
