Date:1930 - 1940 (c.)

Description:This cottage stood close to the Rising Brook on what is now the junction of West Way and Burton Manor Road, Stafford. It was demolished in 1953. It is believed that it was the Scratching Cocks public house in the early 19th century. Cock fighting used to take place here, and opposite the cottage was a ring for bull baiting. Stafford Castle can just be seen in the far distance.
