Description:A Home Guard troop marching up Hollow Lane, Cheddleton, opposite St. Edward’s Church.

Sgt. Percy Bloor is in the left-hand column, 2nd from the front, behind Jack Hedley. Sgt. Bloor enlisted in the 5th Battalion, North Staffordshire Home Guard on 13th June 1940, was promoted to Sergeant 27th September 1940 and shortly afterwards again promoted to Company Sergeant-Major on 23rd October 1940.
