Description:Samuel Johnson (1709-1784), lexicographer, critic and poet, was born on 18th September 1709 in the house which is the Johnson Birthplace Museum on Market Place, Lichfield. He is most famouse for writing the first comprehensive English Dictionary, but was also known for being a great wit and conversationalist.
