Description:Synthetic summer dress with stylised floral decoration. During the late 1940s and 1950s dresses with full skirts and a narrow waists were very popular. The skirts were given shape by starched net petticoats. The more feminine look was a reaction against the austere wartime fashions of the 1940s. New manmade synthetic fibres such as nylon were popular as they were cheap to produce and could be washed easily. This dress was purchased in a second hand clothes shop in Staffordshire and worn during the 1980s when there was a revival of 1950s fashion.
