Description:Looking south-east along Eastgate Street towards Pitcher Bank, Stafford.

On the left is No. 8 and 8a, Eastgate Street with a date of 1878 on the second storey. H. & J. Horton sold decorating materials; A. Parker & Co. were plumbers. They are currently occupied (2025) by 'Little Mansions' letting agents. The shop frontages have changed over the years but above this level the cast iron railings remain under the windows.

Next door is No. 9, 'The Colonnade and Tudor House': this Grade II listed building bears a date of 1560 and whilst its origins may be 16th century, it is probably mostly of a later date. Part of the building is currently in use as ‘The Tudor House Holistic Centre’. At the date of the photograph the 'Stafford Trades & Labour Club' occupied some of the building and their affiliation sign (Club & Institute Union) can be seen projecting over the entrance.

On the extreme right is the former Telephone Exchange with a date over front door of 1959, this is now apartments called 'Exchange House'.
