Description:This studio portrait shows Stafford fire fighter Ernest Hector Haywood in full uniform, including his ornate and highly polished brass fire helmet. Ernest Hector Haywood (1903-1990) served in the Stafford Fire Brigade until 1945, when a head injury received during a training exercise made it necessary for him to resign. His father, Alfred Ernest Haywood, was the Chief Fire Officer for the Stafford Fire Brigade between 1920 and 1941. He ived at 1, Orchard Street, Stafford.
