Description:Sir George Stapledon addressing a crowd a 'Neighbour's Day' at Mixon Hay, Onecote. Local landowners and farmers were invited to this event, organised by Staffordshire War Agricultural Executive Committee, to learn about new developments in grassland management.
Sir George Stapledon (1882-1960) was a grassland scientist and environmentalist who at the time was in charge of the Grassland Research Station at Drayton, near Stratford upon Avon. Mixon Hay was one of a number of Grassland Improvement Stations set up during World War II to increase grass productivity to help with livestock and dairy farming.
