Description:Joshua Blore (1877-1930) and his wife Miriam (nee Wright) at the Heath Bakery, Uttoxeter. Joshua was apprenticed to John Gregory at the Heath Bakery in about 1891. When John Gregory died in 1895 Joshua continued at the bakery. In the early 1900s Joshua was a member of the Uttoxeter Territorials and the old Volunteers. In 1902 he married Miriam Wright, niece of Henry Gerrard, who had a house and shop near the bakery where Miriam helped her uncle when his wife died. In 1904 Joshua bought the Bakehouse, Windmill, Miller's House and everything else from John Gregory's widow. In 1905 Joshua Blore won the Gold Medal for Bread at the International Exhibition in London in open competition. The Heath Bakery was now known as the Gold Medal Bakery for the rest of Joshua Blore's time there. During the 1914-18 War he was a baker in the Royal Army Service Corps.
