Description:Hand-coloured printed map of Staffordshire, divided into hundreds, showing towns, rivers, main roads, parks, woods and hills. In the top right-hand corner has device representing "The Arms Of Staffordshire." Titled (printed) at centre top : Stafford Shire. Map maker : Samuel Simpson. Scale as Rocque. Morden (died 1703) was a bookseller, cartographer and publisher working in London. This hand-coloured engraved map of Staffordshire has a scale divided into great, middle and small miles. It is divided into hundreds and shows towns, rivers and main roads, longitude and latitude. Titled and signed at top left: 'Staffordshire By Rob't Morden'.

This map was first published in 1701 but this edition dates from either 1708 or 1728. This is indicated by the roads to Holyhead and Carlile (sic) being extended beyond the County boundary and their destinations written upside down.
