Description:Biscuit tin containing fettling tools.

Fettling is the name given to the pottery-making process of smoothing out any surface blemishes on the clay after casting.

This set of tools belonged to a caster named Phillis Alcock.

The tin contains;

  • A Steredent tube containing 2 fettling knives and a pointed pink plastic tool.

  • A Steredent tube containing 3 fettling knives and a scalpel.

  • A vitamin tube containing scalpel blades.

  • 4 fettling knives.

  • A table knife.

  • A scalpel holder.

  • A wooden handle.

  • A nail.

  • A metal rod.

  • 2 metal kidneys.

  • A brush.

  • A yellow plastic pencil sharpener.

  • A metal file.

  • A metal ruler.

  • A spike.

  • A small tin containing plasters.

  • A grinding stone.

  • A scalpel and blades.
