Description:Hanley High School was formerly known as the Higher Grade School and was established in 1894. It was a mixed school with separate entrances for boys and girls. To give the girls access to the main buiding a passage was partitioned off by iron railings, through the boys' playground. There were two storeys, with the girls classrooms being on the upper floor, and the boys on the lower.
The building was badly affected by mining subsidence during the 1930's and was eventually demolished.
