Description:This view was taken looking south from Market Square to Greengate Street in Stafford. Later in 1992 the town centre became pedestrianised and the A34 was re-routed around the town.

All of the buildings in the picture remain (June 2022) although some have changed use on several occasions. On the extreme left is the HSBC Bank, in the centre the Ancient High House can be seen rising above the mini-bus, which was one of several that provided a bus service around the Stafford area for some years. Third from the right is Curry’s electrical store.

This photograph was taken by Stafford photographer Tony Boydon.
