Description:An aerial view of the Horseley Bridge & Thomas Piggott Ltd. factory, Horseley Heath, Tipton, looking east. The road crossing the canal branch in the foreground is Horseley Road. The factory has been demolished and the canal filled in, and the site is now occupied by housing estates.

Thomas Piggott & Co were founded at Spring Hill, Birmingham in 1822. The company later became a subsidiary of Horseley Bridge and Engineering Co. Ltd. of Dudley Port, Tipton, which was renamed Horseley Bridge and Thomas Piggott in 1933. They specialised in steel building construction including the Lamella roofing system, which enabled the erection of large curved roof spans, and in particular the Dome of Discovery for the Festival of Britain in 1951.The company was taken over by John Thompson in 1968 and closed in 1992.
