Description:Galloway and Blue Grey cattle in field with dry stone wall to right. A Blue Grey is a crossbred Shorthorn and Galloway. They are pictured at a 'Neighbour's Day' at Mixon Hay, Onecote. Local landowners and farmers were invited to this event, organised by Staffordshire War Agricultural Executive Committee, to learn about new developments in grassland management.
Mixon Hay was one of a number of Grassland Improvement Stations set up during World War II to increase grass productivity to help with livestock and dairy farming.
