Description:The Market Square is the centre of Brewood with four roads radiating from it - Bargate Street, Sandy Lane, Newport Street and Stafford Street. The structure seen in the centre of the photograph is the cast-iron pump and horse trough, given as a memorial to Major J.E. Monckton, who died in 1891. The pump and trough were removed from here in around 1925, to ease traffic flow. The Trough is now positioned in front of the Malt Shovel pub.
