Description:The old wharf buildings on the Trent and Mersey Canal await demolition in the mid 1960s. The land was earmarked for the A500 ‘D-road’ to cut a swathe through the centre of Stoke-on-Trent. Many buildings were demolished during construction in the 1970s.
None of the buildings in this photograph are still standing, St Peter's Church, on the left of the photograph, being the exception.
