Description:Baswich Farm stood on Baswich Lane, next to Holy Trinity Church. This view shows the late 18th or early 19th century barn. By the time this photograph was taken the farmhouse had recently been demolished and the outbuildings were shortly to be cleared to make way for new houses on Farmdown Road, built in 1964. The tower of Holy Trinity Church can be seen in the background.

Baswich Farm was part of the Earl of Lichfield’s estate. When William Henry Yates left the farm in 1923 it was a dairy farm of 123 acres. Over the following years land was sold off and by the 1950s Baswich Farm was little more than a smallholding of 35 acres. Eustace Arblaster, the last occupant, was farmer here between 1937 and 1953. It was up for sale in 1954 and remained empty until it was demolished to make way for the new Baswich Farm Housing Estate built in stages by developers Messrs K.E. Millard & Co. Ltd. between 1963 and 1970.
