Description:The Gables stands on Cherry Lane, Great Bridgeford. It is a Grade II listed timber-framed late 16th century farmhouse with later additions. The date 1675 is painted on the gable.

Mr and Mrs T.J. Jones took over the dairy farm from William Ferneyhough after he left the area in 1939. During World War II, the Joneses hosted the first meetings of Bridgeford Women’s Institute here in 1942 at a time when the village Recreation Room was unavailable as it had been commandeered by the local Home Guard platoon. Mr Jones retired in 1952 and afterwards The Gables ceased to be a working farm and became a private residence.
