Description:Seighford Hall viewed across one of its ponds which may have originally been fish stews. The central timber-framed core was built in the late 16th century for Richard Eld (or Elde), later brick wings were added by the family in the early 19th century. Robert Griffiths, architect and County Surveyor for Staffordshire, further extended it in 1867 and transformed into the black and white Grade II listed house seen here.

The Eld family lived at the Hall until 1876 when it was let to Frederick Lyon, J.P. Upon the death of a later tenant, William Warrington Dobson J.P. in 1941 the house was left empty becoming a base for the local Home Guard, an armoury for RAF Seighford, and a YWCA hostel for WAAFs.

In 1947 it became Staffordshire Police's Driving School. In the early 1970s it was Blazes Nightclub and Restaurant, and then a hotel. In 1977 it became a nursing home but was to fall into disuse in the early 2000s. Purchased by the First Blue Group Ltd. in 2020 it remains empty (in 2026).

The colour-tinted postcard was published by Hartman and posted from Hereford to Shrewsbury in 1906.
