Description:Looking along St. Mary's Place from Greengate Street. St Mary's Church can be seen on the right with the former Technical Institute building in the distance. On the left is a ground-floor shop within the Ancient High House, at this time occupied by Heath & Heather a health food shop. On the right is a part view of the premises occupied by Brookfield’s outfitters. In 1965, Bratt & Dyke bought Brookfield’s Greengate Street shop. The company built a new department store here in 1967 before closing in 1973. The building was briefly Court’s furnishers and in 1974 it was divided into two units, the left-hand side is now (2026) a branch of McDonalds and that on the right was occupied by the Yorkshire Bank for many years. In November 2025, it opened as a greetings card shop.
