Description:Darlaston Inn stood on a traffic island at the junction of A34 Stoke-on-Trent to Stone road and the A51 road to Nantwich. It had been an inn since at least 1811. A former landlord, Martin Donovan, understood that the building had previously been a public house, a bakery and a lock-up and he had uncovered a plaque with the date 1689 on it.
The inn closed in March 2018 and stood empty until its demolition in May 2024. A filling station and shop now (2026) occupy the traffic island.
A Cyclist's Touring Club sign can be seen above the porch inviting CTC members to stop for refreshment or accommodation.
The postcard was posted from Blythe Bridge in 1910 to an address in Burston near Stone. It was published by T. G. Adie & Co., stationer and printers at 28, High Street, Stone.
