Date:1965

Description:An old belt-driven root slicing machine at Walton Farm, Baswich, used for cutting turnips and similar root vegetables for live-stock food.

Possibly manufactured by Bamfords of Uttoxeter. They would usually have a cover over the top-half of the slicing wheel. This may have been removed to enable its conversion to be driven at 90 degrees by a shaft belt-driven pulley at the side of the machine instead of the more common drive wheel attached to the end of the shaft.
