Description:This vignette-effect framed postcard looks north-west along Doxey Road from Stafford.

In this scene coal has been delivered to one of the houses on the left. In the centre, the cycle has a delivery basket, and the cyclist wears a white uniform jacket and white peaked cap. On the right, there are children standing by a garden hedge in front of the houses. At the time of this picture these houses had recently been built. They were intended to attract railway workers, being a short distance from the nearby railway engine sheds. The houses still stand today (2026) largely unchanged.

The postcard, dated 25 August 1910, is unstamped and was probably sent in an envelope from Stafford to an address in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent.
