Date:1977 - 1978 (c.)

Description:Originally a farmhouse built in the early 19th century, the building was extended many times of the years. It was known as Tillington Hall by 1887 when it was owned by Charles Henry Wright, director of the East Cannock Colliery Company. The Hall was put up for sale after he died on 17 November 1927, aged 75, and was purchased by Mr and Mrs F.W. Carder. In 1952, the Hall and its estate was purchased from Mrs Carder by Stafford Borough Council as land for housing.

Tillington Hall itself remained unused until January 1955, when it was purchased by Sydney Hall, proprietor of the Swan Hotel, who proceeded to convert it into a hotel which duly opened in 1956. He added a new bar and lounge in 1960 before he sold it to Allied Vintners in 1969. Five years later Tillington Hall Hotel was acquired by Greenall Whitley of Warrington who added a large extension housing a new lounge and bedrooms in 1977-1978. The 91 bedroom hotel closed in May 2021 and was completely demolished in January 2022.
