Description:Looking north on Greengate Street, Stafford towards Market Square.
In the foreground is a Zebra pedestrian crossing marked with Belisha Beacons. On the right on the corner of Martin Street is Briggs’ shoe shop, today (2026) occupied by a Starbucks coffee shop, with offices of Stafford Permanent Benefit Building Society above. Next to it is Turner & Co., general drapers who closed their business on the expiry of their lease in 1955.
On the left is a sign for Eymer Brothers, Dispensing Chemists and beyond is MacFisheries fishmongers and Jenkinson's cafe.
Posted from Stafford in 1955 when it cost 1½ D (<1p) postage. One of a set of sixteen postcards of Stafford published by Raphael Tuck & Sons in about 1955.
