Description:This photograph taken in 2021 shows a notice of charges (date unknown) for stallholders at St. John’s Market, Stafford, with the daily and weekly prices at pre- decimalisation rates in £sd. The British currency system finally switched over from the old £sd. pounds, shillings and pence to the current decimal system in 1971.
In the early 1990s St. John's Market Hall was demolished prior to the construction of the Guildhall Shopping Centre and a new Market Hall with an overhead car park. During 2025 part of the Guildhall Shopping Centre, all of the Market Hall and the overhead car park were demolished to make way for a major redevelopment of the area.
