Baguley Cars Ltd. later Baguley (Engineers) Ltd. then E. E. Baguley Ltd. was an engineering company, which began around 1911 when Ernest E. Baguley set up Baguley Cars Ltd. after taking over the assets of the former Ryknield Motor Company Ltd. which had manufactured a range of motor vehicles on the Shobnall Road site.
In 1912, the company was specialising in railway locomotives and manufactured railcars for the Drewry Car Co. The same year, Baguley acquired McEwan Pratt, which was in liquidation and formed a new subsidiary named McEwan Pratt (1912) Ltd.
In 1923, Baguley Cars Ltd. changed its name to Baguley (Engineers) Ltd. which failed in 1931. E. E. Baguley Ltd. was registered in 1932 and maintained Baguley locomotives. In 1934 as the business grew it opened a new works in Uxbridge Street, Burton-upon-Trent, and started producing Baguley diesel locomotives and rail inspection vehicles for Drewry. Around 1962, Drewry acquired a controlling interest in E.E. Baguley Ltd. and formed Baguley-Drewry Ltd. building its own locomotives. The company closed in 1984.
