Description:A cabinet card studio portrait of Philip Thomas Dale, who was born in Birmingham on 13 September 1865, the son of Philip and Fanny Dale. He was the third generation of his family to be brazier, ironmonger and shopkeeper at 11, Greengate Street, Stafford. As Chairman of the Old Stafford Society he was instrumental in the restoration of Izaak Walton's Cottage at Shallowford.

On 11 March 1895 he married Kathleen 'Kate' Louise Shepherd (1872-1955) at Christ Church, Stafford. Their daughter Fanny Louise Dale was born in Stafford on 4 November 1896. The Dale family lived at 46 Lovatt Street and later at 'Hovedene', 113a Lichfield Road, Stafford. He died in Stafford on 13 October 1953.
