Description:Major General Sir George Anson (1769-1849) was born at Shugborough, the second son of George Anson (formerly Adams) of Shugborough and brother to Thomas, 1st Viscount Anson. He fought in the Peninsular War under the Duke of Wellington. He was awarded Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath. He was Member of Parliament for Lichfield between 1806 and 1841.
