Description:G. Colley's shop, Normacot Post Office at 75 Upper Normacot Road.

The below information was kindly provided by Malcom Williams.

The pillar in the left foreground belongs to a building on the corner of Chaplin Road and Upper Normacot Road, which was at one time a doctors.

To the right, in the same row of houses, (out of picture) was Barnish's shop. In the 1970s, a mother and son ran Barnish's shop and they used to deliver produce to the local area.

The below information was kindly provided by Peter Landon.

The doctors was a large house, which except for two smallish ground floor rooms used as Dr Heslin's surgery room and waiting room, was Dr Heslin's home. Dr Heslin was the traditional family doctor who also delivered home births and practised between the 1940s and 1960s. He covered the Normacot area and parts of Longton down to the bottom of Uttoxeter Road (formally High Street).
