Description:The Griffin family members in the photograph are Ciss, Charles, Janet, Madge, Nell, Bertie, Jack, Harvey, Constance and Sidney.

Thomas John Griffin married Emily Ann Pemberton at Dudley in 1857 and had been christened in Stafford in 1828, the son of a mercer (a dealer in fine textiles). By 1851 John was Farm Bailiff for his Aunt, Ann Stanford at Shugborough Park Farm. By 1861 he was farming at Haywood Park. He moved to Preston Vale Farm in about 1863.

The Griffins had twelve children. Thomas and Emily died in 1893 and 1894 respectively after which their eldest son, Francis took over the farm at Preston Vale.
