Description:This scene has totally changed today, February 2006. All that is recognisable are the railway gantries on the right of the picture. The large gas holder of Etruria Gasworks was demolished in 1986. The canal lock, on the Trent & Mersey Canal, was changed in the early 1970s, and the houses on the left were demolished to make way for the A500 "D Road". Work on the D Road is still going on in this area in 2006, some 30 years after the road first opened, as part of a major upgrade of this busy route.
