Description:'Grammar School at Tamworth, Staffordshire. A. D. 1677.' Showing a low building with a central `stepped' gable and a hipped roof. On the ground floor are four windows between pilasters. The school is flanked on either side by cottages. Artist: J. Buckler.

Queen Elizabeth's Free Grammar School was founded by the Guild of St George. Elizabeth I re-founded it in 1547. This engraving shows the rebuilding of 1677-8 which was demolished in the 1860s.
