Description:'An Ancient Bridle use in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyne, (sic) for the Taming of Scolds. Now in the possession of Samuel Mayer, Esq., Mayor, 1833-4.' The engraving shows a women's head wearing a bridle. Artist: 'Clements,' [?drawn and engraved.]
