Description:John Bamford, owner of the Leighton Ironworks built this cricket ground and pavilion near to his home,'Oldfields Hall' because of his love of the game. Dr.W.G. Grace visited the ground and paid a huge compliment to Mr Bamford by describing Oldfields as 'one of the finest pavilions and best laid out grounds in the country'.
