Description:'Audley Cross on Blore Heath,' showing a battered cross on a square inscribed base (standing in an open field with sheep.) It commemorates the Battle, 1459. It was repaired in 1765 by the Lord of the Manor, Charles Boothby Skrymsher. Inscribed 'On this spot was fought the Battle of Blore Heath in 1459. Lord Audley who commanded for the side of Lancaster was defeated and slain. To pepetuate the memory of the Action and the Place this ancient monument was repaired in 1765 by the cahrge of the Lord of the Manor Charles Boothby Skrymsher'. Artist: Thomas Peploe Wood.
